The artistic development of thirty-year-old jazz guitarist Ryan Meagher has broadened considerably since his hit debut album, Atroefy, on Fresh Sound New Talent Records. Atroefy, a rock-tinged album filled with daring, yet singable compositions that feature vibrant, meaningful solos garnered considerable airplay on jazz radio waves in the United States, eleven other countries, and many major online platforms. Atroefy also received noteworthy praise from nearly every review including mainstays in the jazz press such as Jazz Times, Jazz Improv New York, Cadence Magazine, JazzReview.com, etc. Typically in the jazz tradition debut albums are often comprised of several standards. If one takes this notion in mind the weight of Meagher’s accomplishments with Atroefy are considerable. Meagher’s debut album was filled with tunes that could only be defined as “jazz” by those who are most liberal with that term.
