Aaron Parks is a jazz piano virtuoso and rising young star from Seattle, Washington. Parks studied at the University of Washington at the age of 14 as a double major in computer science and music. At 15 he was selected to participate in the GRAMMY® High School Jazz Ensembles which inspired him to move to New York City and transfer to the Manhattan School of Music. During his final year he began touring with Terence Blanchard’s band, recording three albums with him for Blue Note Records, including the Grammy® Award-winning A Tale of God’s Will (A Requiem for Katrina). Parks has also toured with Kurt Rosenwinkel, plus he has recorded seven albums as a bandleader and dozens of credits as a sideman. He is also a member of James Farm, a quartet featuring saxophonist Joshua Redman, bassist Matt Penman, and drummer Eric Harland. He has also played on the soundtracks to several Spike Lee films including Inside Man, She Hate Me, and When the Levees Broke. His improvisational genius on the ivories has earned him a number of awards as a finalist in the Jas Hennessy Piano Solo Competition at Montreux, the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Piano Competition, and First Place in the prestigious American Pianists Competition’s Cole Porter Fellowship in Jazz competition.

An expressive and insightful pianist, Mr. Parks favors a spirit of expedition…” – The New York Times
