Once Alicia Olatuja moved to New York, her reputation as a supreme jazz vocalist began to take shape.  The New York media lauded her performances with her husband, bassist Michael Olatuja, as well as her performance at the 2013 presidential inauguration. On her debut album, Timeless, Olatuja was joined by a brilliant ensemble of players including Christian McBride, Jon Cowherd, Christian Sands, Ulysses Owens Jr. and Michael Olatuja, which speaks volumes to her versatile vocal style.  When not performing, she is a voice educator at the Brooklyn Arts Council.  She was featured at the 2015 Festival with Billy Childs and The Laura Nyro project.

“Ms. Olatuja is an American singer with a strong, lustrous tone and an amiably regal presence onstage.” – The New York Times

Brian Blade is widely acknowledged as one of the most versatile and accomplished drummers in music, performing as a sideman on albums by Daniel Lanois, Herbie Hancock, Kenny Garrett, Bob Dylan and Joni Mitchell. Since 2000, Blade has interacted with the Wayne Shorter Quartet alongside pianist Danilo Perez and bassist John Patitucci.  He formed The Fellowship Band with pianist Jon Cowherd in 1997 and in the last decade toured with Chick Corea in the high profile 5 Peace Band. The Fellowship Band made four remarkable albums with there latest being Landmarks, which came out in 2014.  Blade, who last played the Festival in 2014 to a sold out Winningstad Theatre audience, is preparing for an upcoming return to Blue Note Records.

“One of the most melodically thoughtful drummers in jazz, Blade makes all of his band’s disparate ideas sound part of a unified compositional whole.” – DownBeat
