Chano Domínguez – SOLD OUT
February 23, 2016 | 7:00 pm
Pianist Chano Domínguez’s style is rooted in the Flamenco tradition, which has led him to be one of the most in demand musicians on the European continent. His Andalusian style has also translated in performances with Wynton Marsalis, Jack DeJohnette, Herbie Hancock and Joe Lovano. Chano performed a series of stirring concerts at New York’s Jazz Standard paying homage to Miles Davis with his Flamenco take on the Kind of Blue classic. His music has also been featured by various big bands and orchestras including the Orquesta Nacional de España, WDR Big Band, and the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra among others. In solo he’s likely to reference Flamenco Sketches, his latest album for Blue Note Records.
“He keeps outside jazz’s normal routes. As recombinant as his music can be, mixing with Cuban son and jazz-fusion and Bill Evans and Thelonious Monk, it remains intensely Spanish…” – New York Times
