Emmet Cohen (Solo Piano)

Multifaceted American jazz pianist, bandleader and composer Emmet Cohen is one of his generation’s pivotal artistic figures. He possesses the innate ability to communicate with audiences at what he calls “the deepest level of humanity and individuality,” and plays with the command and passion of a musician fully devoted to his art. Cohen has performed at the Monterey, Newport, North Sea, Bern and Edinburgh jazz festivals among others, plus he has gigged at prestigious music venues such as the Kennedy Center, Birdland, The Blue Note, and Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola. He was a finalist in both the Thelonious Monk International Piano Competition in 2011 and the American Pianists Association’s Cole Porter Fellowship in 2011 and 2015. Cohen currently collaborates with some of the biggest stars in jazz such as Jimmy Cobb, Kurt Elling, Billy Hart, Jimmy Heath, Herlin Riley and Christian McBride. This performance marks Cohen’s Portland debut.
