Sting: The Jazz Remix
Featuring Darrell Grant, Marilyn Keller & All 4 Naught
May 12, 2016 | 7:30 pm- $20 – $25
As a solo artist and member of the influential rock band The Police, Sting is not only one of the world’s best-selling musicians, but also a songwriter whose work is as ubiquitous in our time as the music of Gershwin or Cole Porter was during their prime. His unique blend of rock, jazz, reggae, classical, new-age and world beat also provides fertile ground for the imaginations of creative jazz artists. He has performed in a number of impactful collaborations with notable jazz musicians including Branford Marsalis, Omar Hakim, Christian McBride, Jeff “Tain” Watts, and Gil Evans, among others.
With Sting: The Jazz Remix, pianist Darrell Grant and his trio All 4 Naught, together with the distinctively versatile vocalist Marilyn Keller and special guests explore the jazz possibilities of the prestigious bassist’s songbook, “remixing” harmony, melody and rhythmic elements of classics like “Fragile,” “We’ll Be Together,” “Fields of Gold,” “Every Breath You Take,” and others favorites from this seminal artist.
“ADVENTUROUS. (Grant’s) eclectic background and obvious open-mindedness has paid dividends…” – The Boston Herald
