Single Malt Trio

In the fall of 2015, three undercover jazz musicians played for the first time together on a stage in Bucharest, Romania in front of several thousand people. It was during that European tour, the group Single Malt Trio was formed. Brent Follis (Ari Shapiro, Pink Martini), Dan Faehnle (Diana Krall, Pink Martini) and Phil Baker (Diana Ross, Pink Martini) combine forces to perform music from their favorite jazz composers, originals, and arrangements of modern pop songs.

Multi-talented instrumentalist and composer Rachel Flowers was born on December 21, 1993. Arriving 15 weeks premature, she lost her eyesight as an infant due to Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP). Rachel’s music is informed by her extensive musical background, with jazz, classical, and progressive rock music all playing a part in helping Rachel to forge a style that is uniquely her own.

Since Stan Bock arrived in Portland in the mid ‘90s, he’s become a mainstay on the Jazz scene. He’s been a sideman with bands lead by Mel Brown, Thara Memory, and Bobby Torres as well as several big bands. But he’s lead several bands that have each garnered critical acclaim. Stan’s latest project is the Stan Bock 4tet. This group has been together for a year, playing a collection of original music and reimagined versions of standard tunes. Born and reared in New Orleans, the cradle of jazz and an evacuee from Hurricane Katrina relocated to Portland, Oregon, Devin Phillips' intense affair with the saxophone began at the age of eight. At 14, he was accepted into the prestigious New Orleans Center for Creative Arts, whose alumni include Wynton and Branford Marsalis, Harry Connick, Jr. and Nicholas Payton.
