2019 Biamp PDX Jazz Festival, Soul’d Out Productions and Beloved Productions present The Soul of Africa: Habib Koité with special guest Koratet
February 27 | 7:30 pm- $30 – $35
UPDATE 2/25: The Biamp PDX Jazz Festival, Soul’d Out & Beloved regretfully inform you that due to visa application irregularities stemming from the current administration’s State Department policies, Bassekou Kouyate was not able to secure his US travel visa in time for his performance this Wednesday night, February 27, as part of the Soul of Africa concert at Revolution Hall. We had hoped we could pull this out at the last minute, but the time has come to acknowledge this will not happen in time for him to make the Portland show. As such, we are continuing on with the show featuring Malian master Habib Koité performing in duo with percussion impresario Mama Kone and the amazing Koratet opening the show.
If you would like to receive a refund on your ticket due to Bassekou not making the show, just let us know and we’ll be happy to accommodate. If you instead wish to join us for what will be a truly memorable night of African music, we look forward to seeing you Wednesday night!
Habib Koité exemplifies responsibility and shared experience associated with the historical, cultural, and unifying properties of Malian music. One of Africa’s most recognized musicians, Habib Koité is a modern troubadour with extraordinary appeal because Koité‘s musicianship, wit and wisdom translate across cultures. Hailing from the musically prolific West African nation of Mali, the guitarist and composer has been named the biggest pop star of the region by Rolling Stone. Over the past decade, Koité’s artistry and magnetic personality have made him an international star, delighting audiences the world over, and placing him firmly among the leading figures in contemporary world music.
